Smart RDM for basalt fiber
We love innovation. Do you know what basalt fiber is? This extraordinary fiber, thanks to unique technology, is extremely durable and maintains its properties throughout its entire length. The fiber itself is four times lighter and up to six times stronger than steel. Additionally, and crucially in today’s world, the fiber can be produced using renewable energy sources.
Composites based on basalt fiber can substitute for steel in construction, offering a far more ecological option. Applications include reinforcement bars and frame constructions, among other examples, where basalt fiber-based composites can replace steel. A primary advantage of basalt fiber is its resistance to most acids and alkalis; it does not oxidize, so constructions made of basalt can have a significantly longer lifespan than those made with steel or aluminum, which oxidize quite rapidly and are vulnerable to most acids and alkalis.
So, what’s our role in this? We won the tender to implement the Smart RDM, integrated with the Aveva PI System, at Polski Bazalt SA. This represents yet another success in our efforts to boost production efficiency.
