Warsaw Intelligent Heat Distribution Network in the final stage of the project

ConnectPoint, together with its technology partner OSIsoft is the leading subcontractor of this project. The project aimed to modernise the largest district heating network in the European Union to enable infrastructure management from a single decision-making centre. The system’s heart is the Central Data Repository based on the OSIsoft PI solution.

Marek Zając, Director of Operations Engineering at Veolia Energia Warszawa SA, gave an interview for Smart Grid. He talked about the critical role of the Data Repository for all the company’s activities: “The role of the Data Repository is not just to collect data, but above all to enable its organisation, search and analysis. Thanks to these processes, it is possible to diagnose and optimise the capital’s district heating system continuously.”

Where is the motivation for such a significant change coming from? “Our aim is to optimise the operation of the district heating system and the thermal substations to reduce transmission losses as much as possible and deliver safe and reliable heat to all our consumers.”
